If you think your too old to learn something new, Susan is proof that your wrong. She is 72 years old and kitesurfs everyday. If that is not impressive enough for you, Susan recently decided she wanted to learn to hydrofoil. I started her on the shortest Slingshot Flight School mast (12″) and then progressed her to the next size up (24″). I believe she is now ready to try out the 30″ mast because she stays up wind and up out of the water riding the wing not just the board.
With the new mast systems learning to hydrofoil is easier than even. That being said you need to be a good solid kiter before trying to ride this bucking bronco. The new mast system surely limits hard crashes you take in the beginning but be prepared to get a few cuts and bruises along the way. If someone tells you otherwise then they are crazy.
Contact me if you want to take hydrofoil lessons. I feel like I have a really good system setup to help you learn to foil without taking too much of a beating. Learning to foil is one of the hardest things to do in kiteboarding. So if Susan can learn to foil then you can at least learn to fly a kite.
